Email bugfix

Some changes have been made to make req.co.uk email messages (eg activation emails or password reset confirmation emails) less likely to be eaten by a spam filter.

Changes are afoot

posted by Breadmower on Mon 15th Jan, 07 at 22:12:29

There hasn't been much happening to req.co.uk recently, due to things being concentrated on elsewhere. Well, that's about to change - things have started happening again...

Tonight's developments: changes to user pages to lay them out a little better, and get more information on them. Have a look, and you'll see what I mean...

Other recent developments: there's now a password reset system in case you've forgotten your password. You can find that at some game that a few people are playing...

Catch up / Registration

posted by Breadmower on Sun 1st Oct, 06 at 19:26:28

It's been a little quiet in this blog recently, so just to bring it up to date:

Stuff that's done: pagination, comments, editing.

Stuff that's still to come: tages, blog privacy, openID, registration

On that note, I'm working on a side project at the moment, which is tied into this site - meaning that some of the stuff I'm doing for it will add features to here. The most interesting of which is that I've almost finished putting together the registration system. Watch for that (and this little project) over the next week or so.

Then there were three

My Beta Monkey and Beta Bunny have now been joined by a Beta Toad. Some kind of strange animal naming thing going on there. Never mind - just go read his blog: T.O.A.D (standing for T.O.A.D's Online Access Diary). Being a programmer, I love the smell of in the morning evening.

Dev update and metablog

posted by Breadmower on Mon 24th Jul, 06 at 08:56:22

Thought I should do at least a little update in here, seeing as it's been a while. I've done a few little updates to the site recently, though nothing too major. If you're interested in keeping up to date with what's happening, you might want to check out metablog, which contains brief updates about what's happening to the site. This blog is for less frequent, but more detailed information (waffle) about what's going on behind the scenes.

Anyway, what's on the cards for the next few weeks:

  • Pagination of blogs
  • Comments / discussion
  • Useful stuff in the sidebars (ie no more "So what would go in this sidebar, then")
  • Blog privacy settings
  • Editing of entries

Stuff to happen after that:

  • OpenID support (so you can post comments at places like LiveJournal using your req.co.uk account, and LJ users can post comments here using their LJ account)
  • Something quite cool (or at least, it is from my point of view). It's a bit of an experiment that I fancy having a go at. More details closer to the time.

Show me the (S)monkey!

Ladies and gentlemen, Smonkey's blog has arrived. Go read Jungle Drums. Now. Do it... dooo it!

Beta monkies and beta bunnies

posted by Breadmower on Mon 26th Jun, 06 at 13:38:40

So, seeing as there's not going to be much development happening for a while, I'll take a moment to point you in the direction of my current beta testers - my two favourite ladies: Bunnery and Smonkey (alphabetical order, I hasten to add. Also, no offence meant to all the other ladies - you gals are cool too).

Anyway, the point was that there's a few bits and pieces you can read now. Go read "Slices of Bread" or "Down the rabbit hole", and come back shortly to read "Smonkey's as yet untitled blog" (when it starts).

Online!

Very quick update: beta online. Woo!

More developments

posted by Breadmower on Sun 11th Jun, 06 at 23:15:06

Despite the heat (just!), I've managed to do a little more work. There's now a user login system, and a basic level of access control for the blogs (only users with the necessary permissions can add to a blog). This is also in place on editing user profiles and blog descriptions.

Other exciting news: I've opened a support ticket at my web host to get them to do some config changes on the server to support the new system.

That's it for now - off to write a quick personal blog, then to bed.

Blogs and users

OK, a bit more has happened. User pages now "work" (in that they display the information that the user has set in their profile, and display a list of blogs that they contribute to). Blog pages have had a few changes made, but I can't remember what they were. Never mind.
